WELCOME!
We welcome you to our worship service at ALIVE IN CHRIST.
May God bless your worship with us today.
We are Alive in Christ…
Equipping, encouraging, and serving others to grow the family of God in the one true faith.
IN PREPARATION FOR COMMUNION
In the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, we receive the true Body and Blood of Jesus in, with and under the consecrated elements of bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus said: This is My Body…this is My Blood…for the forgiveness of sins. Believing these words and trusting in His promise, please consider these words of Jesus in yourself-examination before communing. We ask that any who are not yet instructed, are in doubt, or who hold a confession different from the congregations of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, to refrain from receiving the Sacrament at this time. Each person may come forward for a blessing with hands folded as an indication to the pastor that they wish to receive a blessing. If you have any questions regarding the reception of Holy Communion, please speak to our pastor before the service. Gluten-free wafers and/or grape juice are available. Please signify by lifting your pointer finger when elements are presented.
ORDER OF WORSHIP
Psalm 118:19-24
19 Open for me the gates of the righteous; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. 20 This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter. 21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. 22 The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; 23 the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. 24 The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.

P: Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with atrue heart and confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the nameof our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. Our help is in the name of the Lord,
C: who made heaven and earth.
P: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord,
C: and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.
--Silent, personal reflection with God—
P: O almighty God, merciful Father,
C: I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended You and justly deserved Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them, and I pray You of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being.
P: Absolution
C: Amen
Collect of the Day:
P: Gracious God, You gave Your Son into the hands of sinful men who killed Him. Forgive us when we reject Your unfailing love, and grant us the fullness of Your salvation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
C: Amen
Old Testament Reading: Nehemiah 8:9-12
Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, “This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.
10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
11 The Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be still, for this is a holy day. Do not grieve.”
12 Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.
L:This is the Word of the Lord.
C:Thanks be to God.
Epistle reading: Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
L:This is the Word of the Lord.
C:Thanks be to God.
Gospel Reading: John15:1-17 (Please Stand if you are able)
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
P:This is the Gospel of the Lord.
C:Praise to You, O Christ.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.
AndI believe in the Holy Spirit the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from theFather and the Son who with the Father and Son together is worshipped andglorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledgeone Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of thedead and the life of the world to come. Amen
Children’s Message
Lord, I Need You
Lord I come, I confess
Bowing here, I find my rest
Without You, I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart
Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour, I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour, I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand, I'll fall on You
Jesus, You're my hope and stay
Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour, I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
You're my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
My one defense, myrighteousness
Oh God, how I need You

We give thanks to You, almighty God, that You have refreshed us through this salutary gift, and we implore You that of Your mercy You would strengthen us through the same in faith toward You and in fervent love toward one another; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
C: Amen.
Benediction
Maythe Lord bless you and keep you;
Maythe Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
Maythe Lord look upon you with His favor and give you peace!
Crown Him With Many Crowns
Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns All music but its own!
Awake, my soul and sing Of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King Through all eternity.
Crown Him the virgin’s Son, The God incarnate born
Whose arm those crimson trophies won Which now His brow adorn
Fruit of the mystic rose, Yet of that rose the stem,
The root whence mercy ever flows, The babe of Bethlehem
Crown Him the Lord of love, Behold His hands and side,
Rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified
No angels in the sky Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bend their wond’ring eyes At mysteries so bright
Crown Him the Lord of life, Who triumphed o’er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save.
His glories now we sing, Who died and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring And lives that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of heaven, Enthroned in worlds above;
Crown Him the King to whom is given The wondrous name of Love.
Crown Him with many crowns As thrones before Him fall;
Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns For He is King of all.
